RHS Hampton Court Garden Festival 2025

Designed for pause and restoration, this feature balcony transforms a compact footprint into a calm, sensory urban retreat.

Balcony Garden of Calm & Character

Created for the inaugural Feature Balcony category at RHS Hampton Court Garden Festival 2025, A Quiet Retreat reimagines a compact outdoor space as a place for calm, reflection and reconnection.

Details

Hampton Court, KT8

10m²

Designed as a calming, sensory space for those who work from home, this garden invites pause, reflection, and reconnection. It features warm-hued planting, tactile materials like clay, timber, and woven surfaces, and a mindful approach to design within a small footprint.

This year marks the first appearance of Balcony Gardens at Hampton Court, following their popularity at RHS Chelsea. These compact installations show how even the smallest outdoor spaces — from balconies to rooftops and window boxes — can be transformed into beautiful, purposeful gardens.

I’m honoured to be part of this exciting new addition to the show and can’t wait to share ideas for bringing calm and character to urban spaces.
