Blackheath Garden Design & Garden Room, London

Reimagined for a north-facing setting, this garden becomes a calm, low-maintenance retreat designed for living and working.

Blackheath Garden of Calm & Shade

A once dark, north-facing garden is transformed into a calm, low-maintenance retreat designed for both relaxation and everyday working. The layout is reworked to improve flow and privacy, with clean lines, refined brickwork and consistent boundary treatments creating a more cohesive space. A garden room on the upper terrace introduces flexibility, offering a dedicated place to work or unwind.

We transformed a gloomy, north-facing garden into a serene, low-maintenance retreat.

The owners, a busy couple, wanted a private, functional space to relax and work. I revamped the layout, cleaned up existing brickwork, added uniform fencing for privacy, and introduced a garden room on the upper terrace for versatility.

Low-maintenance plants like evergreens, palms, and agapanthus were chosen to thrive in the shady setting, creating a layered, inviting atmosphere.

What they’ve ended up with is a peaceful, stylish extension of the home.
