The Challenge
Taking a small garden that had old slippery wooden decking with overgrown planting and turning it into a tropical oasis.
The family in Wimbledon wanted to make their garden into a tranquil space, that invited wildlife. The existing Cordyline and Trachycarpus were sympathetically included in the new garden. Taking them as an inspiration, the planting scheme was tropical, architectural, organic and flowing.
Two seating areas were created with raised beds and floating benches, to be used for dining or sitting around the firepit. A pergola was added to allow for climbers and festoon lights. New fencing was installed in the style of contemporary slats. Finally, for tranquility, a pond was added to encourage wildlife to come into the garden.
