GARDEN DESIGN APPROACH
Garden Project Location: Crystal Palace, London
Embark on a garden metamorphosis with contemporary styling and holiday-inspired ambiance. My clients engaged me early on, entrusting me with their property undergoing extension and refurbishment.
A pivotal objective was establishing a seamless link between the interior and the garden space and creating a journey towards the gazebo at the end of the garden.
In the ‘Before’ snapshots, the absence of a patio and the distressed state of the grass post-renovation were evident. The response was to fashion a generous patio, perfect for indoor/outdoor living. Elevated beds and a floating bench were introduced to optimise seating.
To forge a captivating pathway connecting the patio to the garden’s gazebo, handmade clay bricks were chosen for the stepping stones. Set in an angular fashion and alternating with porcelain paving throughout the garden, they create both definition and interest in this small outdoor space.
Ensuring privacy and a modern aesthetic, contemporary slatted panels replaced fencing on both sides. Planting beds were created by edging them with rustic coloured clay bricks, filling them with shrubs, ferns, grasses and acers.
The lighting scheme, designed to be warm and subtle, fosters a seamless connection between the kitchen and garden, transforming them into one cohesive space.
