Anerley Garden Design, London

A garden isn’t created overnight - here’s a glimpse of how thoughtful design slowly becomes a space to enjoy.

 Anerley Garden of Connected Spaces

A complete reworking of the garden into distinct yet connected zones. A levelled patio, defined seating area and pergola create flow and function, softened by layered planting and textured materials.

When we first arrived, turf covered most of the garden, with a raised bed breaking up the layout and no clear destination in sight. The patio held plenty of potential, but uneven levels and tired slate made it feel awkward and uninviting.

We re-laid and levelled the patio to create a seamless flow from inside to out, adding a welcoming seating spot right outside the back door — ideal for morning coffee or relaxed evening meals.

A 4x3m aluminium pergola defines the sunniest part of the garden, creating a new entertaining space.

A mix of clay pavers, slate, and Scottish pebbles replaces the worn turf, adding texture, interest, and a sense of direction towards the future garden room.

Boxy raised beds have made way for soft, modern structures with year-round planting and seasonal colour.

From start to finish, working with Katerina and her team was an absolute pleasure. From the very first enquiry, she was prompt, thorough, and immediately gave me plenty to look at and get excited about. When she came to see the garden in person, it was clear straight away that this is someone who genuinely loves what she does, she has an instinctive understanding of what works and what doesn’t & that expertise came through in every conversation.
