Designed for a well-travelled, retired creative couple with a deep passion for horticulture and the arts, this garden is both a private sanctuary and a welcoming space for sharing knowledge, stories and skills across generations.
The planting is edible, ornamental and heirloom — every variety chosen with purpose. From climbing grapevine overhead to Australian natives, heritage tomatoes and cascading daisies, the garden demonstrates that even the smallest urban space can be productive, beautiful and full of meaning.
Awarded a RHS Chelsea Gold Medal, and winner of the Best Balcony and Container Garden

This garden began with a question: what is possible on a balcony?
The answer was a carefully zoned space — a seating area for connection, a potting table for nurturing, and planting that climbed, cascaded and filled every available inch. Vitis vinifera trained overhead across a bespoke pergola. Handmade cement tiles underfoot. Rattan furniture and warm materials that gave the space an unhurried, Mediterranean character.
Drawing on a Greek-Australian design philosophy rooted in productive planting, natural materials and climate-conscious thinking, every detail was considered from the very beginning — not added in at the end.
